About College
Swami Rama established the Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust (HIHT) at Jolly Grant, Dehradun and later, in 1994-95, the trust opened a multi-speciality hospital and a medical college.
Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS) is the first medical college in Uttarakhand to make it a seat of excellence in learning and training medical students. It is affiliated with Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dehradun and recognized for increasing seats from 100 to 150 after February 2018.
The college offers MBBS, MD/MS and super speciality programs (M.Ch. in Surgical Oncology, M.Ch. in Neurosurgery and DM in Neurology), PhD programmes, Fellowship, and Paramedical Programmes.

Course duration:
MBBS course at the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences includes a period of study extending over 4½ (Four & a half) academic years followed by 1 (one) year compulsory rotating Internship.Seat intake:
The Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences has permission from the National Medical Commission to admit 150 candidates to the MBBS Programme, out of which 60 seats are reserved for the permanent residents of Uttarakhand.Admission criteria:
Admission into the MBBS course is made based on merit/rank of the All India NEET examination through common counselling conducted at the State level as per National Medical Council guidelines.

Education Qualification:
Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board, Council or University. They must have passed the subject of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually with a minimum of 50% (40% in case of SC/ST/OBC) marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology taken together.Age:
The candidates must attain the minimum age of 17 years on or before 31st December (the year candidates seek admission).Entrance exam
: Only those candidates who have been declared qualified in NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (NEET-UG) are eligible to apply.

Admission procedure

All NEET-UG qualified candidates must register for common counselling at the HNB Uttarakhand Medical Education University website, www.hnbgu.ac.in.
Candidates must download the allotment letter and make payment of the centralised advance tuition fee as mentioned on the allotment letter. After this, the candidate should report personally to the college along with the required documents for completion of the further admission process.
