The Maharashtra Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (MIMSR) Medical College was started in 1990 with a small portion of Rajarshi Shahu College. In 1992, the college shifted to its own premises.
The medical institute is affiliated with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, and attached to the Yeshwantrao Chavan rural hospital, which also started functioning simultaneously in 1992. It is a 610-bed attached teaching hospital.
