NRI Institute of Medical Sciences was established in 2012 and started functioning from the academic year 2012-13 with UG and PG Courses. The Medical College has sanctioned 150 seats of MBBS and 66 PG courses.

The college is affiliated with Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences and recognized by the National Medical Commission.

NRI, Visakhapatnam, is attached to Anil Neerukonda Hospital, one of the largest in the region with best-in-class medical facilities. With the 1018-bed teaching facility, the hospital provides hands-on clinical exposure to the students. The hospital is one of the largest in the region, with best-in-class medical facilities.

  • Candidates can pursue their MBBS career at NRI, Visakhapatnam, by clearing the national level NEET exam.
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery is 4 years and 6 months as per the academic calendar by a one-year Compulsory Rotary Internship.
  • The college has an intake capacity of 150 MBBS students. The number and distribution of seats may vary depending upon the decisions of competent authorities. The category-wise seat allocation shall be as follows:
  • A – Category – 50% – 75 seats
  • B – Category – 35% – 52 seats
  • C – Category – 15% – 23 seats

Eligibility criteria

  • Candidate should have passed intermediate (10+2) or its equivalent examination, i.e., qualifying examination, securing not less than 50% (40% marks in case of BC/SC/ST) of marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology)/Biochemistry, to take admission into MBBS course.
  • The Candidate should have completed 17 years of age as of the year of admission.
  • Candidates must have qualified NEET-UG with the required percentile.

Documents required for nri seats

  • In case of claiming fee exemption, the latest Income certificate of the Parent issued by MRO / Tahsildar or white ration card.
  • Study Certificate(s) from 6th class to intermediate.

Admission procedure

Step 1: The admission process is simple; the first step is to qualify for the NEET examination.

Step 2: The candidates must register online at Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences for the counseling process and choose the colleges they want to join.

Step 3: After counseling, candidates can apply at the college website by filling out the admission application form and submitting the fees. The college will allot seats after the document verification. Eligible and selected candidates are required to pay fees to start their education at NRI institute.

Notes:

Category –A seats (50% of the sanctioned intake of the seats)

These seats shall be filled as per merit from the candidates who are qualified for NEET.

Category – B & C seats (50% of the sanctioned intake of the seats)

Candidates from all over the country are eligible for admission into Management Quota B& C (NRI) seats as per NMC /Dr. NTRUHS Regulations.

NRI or Children under Guardianship of NRI who secured cut-off score and more in NEET marks are eligible under Management Quota Category (C) NRI seats.

Scholarship Program

Eligible candidates (SC, ST, OBC, EBC & Minority, economically backward classes, and differently-abled students) are eligible to apply for the scholarship as per the Government of Andhra Pradesh norms.

The students can apply for college fee reimbursement under the ‘Jagananna Vidya Deevena scheme’ if their family income is less than Rs. 2.5 lakh.
