About College
Established in 2020, Symbiosis Medical College for Women (SMCW), Pune, is the exclusive Medical College for Women under the Faculty of Health Sciences. The college was established to empower women and contribute to nation-building by increasing the number of female doctors.
SMCW is affiliated with Symbiosis International (Deemed) University, Pune and has permission to renew 150 seats for the academic year 2022-23. Symbiosis International (Deemed University) was established in 2002 in Maharashtra, India. Today, the university has a domestic and global presence in over 85 countries.
The university offers programmes at Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral levels under the Faculties of Law, Management, Computer Sciences, Health Sciences, Media Communication, Humanities & Social Sciences, Engineering Architecture & Design.
The medical college is attached to the Symbiosis University Hospital, and Research Centre, a 900 bedded teaching hospital.

- The MBBS course duration is five & a half years (5.5 years), including a one-year compulsory rotatory internship.
- All admissions for the MBBS Programme at SMCW will be made through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) on a merit basis in the form of a rank obtained in NEET by MCC.
- Symbiosis Medical College for Women has an intake capacity of 150 MBBS students. 100% of seats, i.e. 150 (One Hundred Fifty) of the MBBS Programme at SMCW, will be filled by admission counselling conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS)/ Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) at SMCW/ SIU.
Eligibility Criteria
Qualifying exam: The candidate must have passed the qualifying examination, i.e., Higher Secondary Certificate or the equivalent examination with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology) with a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. However, for the reservation categories, it is 40% marks.
Minimum age: The candidate’s minimum age should be 17 on 31st December, the year admission is sought.
Entrance exam: The candidate must pass NEET-UG with a merit score.

Admission procedure
Step 1: Apply and qualify for NTA-NEET.
Step 2: Apply for online MCC counselling at https://mcc.nic.in/.
Step 3: Candidates seeking provisional admission for MBBS Programme at SMCW have to register on the MCC website under Deemed University for General/NRI category by paying the registration fees.
Step 4: Subsequent to the registration and payment, candidates will participate in Choice Filling, Locking and Seat Allotment process.
Step 5: Once seats are allotted at SMCW, Candidates have to visit the college IN PERSON along with all required documents for completion of admission formalities.
MBBS fee structure
Note: Academic Fees for subsequent years shall increase by 10% every year.
Scholarship Program
The college provides scholarships under the Dr Anandi Gopal Scholarship program. Under this scholarship program, the top 5 girl students who qualify for the NEET exam with merit and get admission to MBBS Programme at Symbiosis Medical College for Women will be awarded a scholarship each year.
As per the scholarship program, the entire academic fees for all the years of the MBBS programme will be waived off.

The college has only 2 categories: 1. General and 2. NRI. There are no seats for the reserved category. Further, all admissions are merit-based only.
