🦷 BDS Course – Full Details 


🔹 What is BDS? 


BDS stands for Bachelor of Dental Surgery. It is the only recognized undergraduate professional dental course in India. After completing BDS, one becomes a qualified dental surgeon, capable of practicing dentistry or pursuing specialization. 


 ✅ BDS Eligibility Criteria 

Category Requirement 

Educational Qualification Passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology & English 

Minimum Marks (General) Minimum 50% aggregate in PCB 

Minimum Marks (SC/ST/OBC) Minimum 40% aggregate in PCB 

Minimum Marks (PwD - General) Minimum 45% aggregate in PCB 

Age Limit Minimum 17 years as on 31st December of admission year 

Entrance Exam Must qualify NEET-UG 

Nationality Indian nationals, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, Foreign Nationals (as per MCC/NMC rules)

📋 BDS Course Criteria 

Requirement Details 

Attendance Minimum 75% in theory and 80% in practicals for each subject 

Internal Assessment Minimum 50% marks required in internal exams for exam eligibility 

University Examination Conducted at the end of each academic year 

Passing Marks Minimum 50% in theory and practicals (combined) in each subject 

Internship Completion Compulsory 1-year internship required to receive the BDS degree 

Registration Must register with State Dental Council / DCI to practice legally
