🔹 What is MDS? 


MDS stands for Master of Dental Surgery


It is a postgraduate degree program in dentistry, focusing on specialized areas of dental treatment and surgery. MDS is typically pursued after completing the BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) degree. 


  • MDS involves in-depth study, research, and practical exposure in various specialized fields like Orthodontics, Periodontology, Oral Surgery, Prosthodontics, etc. 

 


✅ MDS Eligibility Criteria 

Category Requirement 

Educational Qualification Must have completed BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) from a recognized dental college/university 

Minimum Marks Minimum 50% aggregate in BDS degree 

Entrance Exam Must qualify NEET-MDS (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for MDS) 

Internship Completion of a 1-year mandatory internship after BDS 

Age Limit There is no upper age limit, but candidates should adhere to university rules for age restrictions (if any) 

Nationality Indian nationals, NRIs, and Foreign Nationals (as per institution rules)

📋 MDS Course Criteria 

Requirement Details 

Attendance Minimum 75% theory and 80% practical/clinical attendance

University Exams Conducted at the end of each year (theory + practical exams) 

Research & Dissertation A research project or dissertation is required at the end of the course
